The Institute of Cultural Psychology and Qualitative Social Research (ikus)

ikus is working at the intersection of theoretical basic research and empirical field research, by combining concepts of cultural psychology with methods of qualitative social research. On the basis of its (socio-)critical orientation, a versatile work group realizes trans-cultural projects and activities.

Based on an open and dynamic concept of culture(s), that is opposed to reductionist and partial models of culture and society, ikus focuses on heterogeneous cultural phenomena as well as on related practices and artefacts. On the basis of theoretical and empirical analyses, ikus develops coaching and counselling concepts for dealing with social and cultural phenomena.

The Institute provides new research and career opportunities for the interdisciplinary study of cultural fields. Additionally ikus offers furher training opportunities and scientific exchange.

By the initiative DoingCulture, ikus supports culture-bridging projects in the public sphere. Furthermore ikus has been EU partner organization of the "European Year of Intercultural Dialogue".European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008
